2010 - The Artemis Challenge, Round the Island Yacht Race, Cowes week 18 images Created 5 Aug 2010
The Artemis Challenge 2010 yacht race took place on Tuesday, 3rd August. Starting in Cowes, at 1000 BST the crews headed east on the 55-mile course round the Isle of Wight.
Featuring six round-the-world IMOCA 60 racers with renowned round the world skippers alongside sporting stars Amy Williams & Zara Phillips, GMTV presenter Emma Crosby and former England rugby international Martin Bayfield as well as the Harry Potter 'Weasley Twins', Oliver and James Phelps.
I managed to catch the leaders as they passed the western tip of the island mid-afternoon, going round the Needles, past Totland & Colwell Bays & Hurst Castle Lighthouse.
The Race was won by Mike Golding, who claimed the £10,000 charitable donation for the RNLI.
